CPI(M) vs. Congress: The Left is Confused, Modi is Unbothered, and Twitter is Losing Its Mind

Indian politics has always been a mess, but this time, it’s giving us full-on reality TV drama. The CPI(M) (Communist Party of India, Marxist, for the uninitiated) has once again found itself in the middle of a political showdown, and the memes practically write themselves.

On one side, you have CPI(M) slamming the Modi government, calling it “fascist” and accusing it of ruining democracy. On the other side, Congress is not impressed with CPI(M)’s half-baked support, basically calling them out for being “fake woke.” And in the middle of it all? Modi, sitting back like a villain in a Bollywood movie, probably sipping chai and watching the Left self-destruct.

Let’s break down this political soap opera step by step.

CPI(M) Screams “Fascism!” (Again)

It’s not exactly breaking news that the Left parties hate Narendra Modi’s government. Every time the PM breathes, CPI(M) calls it a “threat to democracy.” But this time, they went all in, accusing the BJP-led government of straight-up “fascist attacks” on democracy, minorities, and—of course—themselves.

CPI(M)’s Kerala unit, which still manages to stay relevant (barely), is pushing this whole “Modi is a dictator” narrative. They’re out here painting the BJP as some evil empire while also conveniently ignoring their own history of political violence in Kerala. Classic.

Congress is Giving Side-Eye

Now, here’s where it gets juicy. Congress, the other big player in opposition politics, is looking at CPI(M) like, “Oh, so NOW y’all care about democracy?”

See, the problem is that CPI(M) and Congress have a love-hate relationship that makes Bollywood breakups look mild. They’re technically on the same side against the BJP, but they also lowkey hate each other’s guts.

Congress has been putting in effort (kinda) to form a united opposition against Modi for the upcoming elections. But CPI(M)? They’re playing it safe, criticizing Modi just enough to stay relevant but not actually putting in any real effort to fight the BJP on a national level.

Congress is basically telling CPI(M): “Either go all in or stop talking.” And CPI(M)? They’re doing what they do best—being indecisive.

The Kerala Factor: Why This Feud is Extra Spicy

If CPI(M) has any actual power left, it’s in Kerala. The state has been a Left stronghold for years, and CPI(M) has been running the show there. But here’s the problem—Congress is their biggest rival in the state, and they hate each other.

So when CPI(M) talks about “uniting” against Modi, Congress is like, “Bro, you literally fight us more than you fight BJP.” And they’re not wrong. CPI(M) spends more time dragging Congress in Kerala than actually challenging Modi on a national level.

This is why Congress isn’t buying their whole “Down with Fascism!” speech. They’re looking at CPI(M) like that one friend who only calls when they need something.

BJP is Just Vibing

Meanwhile, the BJP is thriving in this chaos. They don’t even need to step in—Congress and CPI(M) are doing all the work for them by fighting each other.

Modi and his team are out here winning elections, building temples, and passing laws while the opposition parties are still trying to figure out if they even like each other. If this were a chess game, BJP is playing 4D strategy while CPI(M) and Congress are still arguing over whose turn it is.

Basically, Modi doesn’t even have to do anything. The opposition is busy self-sabotaging.

The Big Question: Is the Opposition Even Serious About 2024?

With elections coming up, you’d think the opposition would be focused on, you know, actually opposing BJP. But instead, CPI(M) is busy fighting Congress, Congress is busy being salty, and BJP is just out here stacking W’s.

Here’s the problem:

  1. CPI(M) has trust issues. They kind of want to work with Congress but also kind of don’t.
  2. Congress has an ego problem. They want to be the leader of the opposition but don’t know how to handle allies.
  3. BJP is just better at the game. While the opposition is busy arguing, Modi is out there securing votes.

Unless CPI(M) and Congress actually work together, the BJP is going to win—again. It’s that simple.

Final Thoughts: The Left Needs a Reality Check

At this point, CPI(M) needs to pick a side—either go all in against BJP or stop pretending to care about “saving democracy.” Congress, on the other hand, needs to stop expecting loyalty from a party that has never been loyal to anyone.

As for BJP? Well, they’re just going to keep winning unless the opposition gets its act together. And honestly, the way things are going, that’s not happening anytime soon.

So yeah, if you’re looking for a solid political strategy—maybe don’t take notes from CPI(M) or Congress.
